Scott Frost - Wide Receivers

In his first season coaching at the University of Oregon, Scott Frost brought a swagger to a young wide receiver corps who developed dramatically over the course of the year. A glaring symbol of that development could be seen in junior wide receiver Jeff Maehl, who scored at least one touchdown in each of the last four regular season games. It was the receiving corps as a whole that routinely made play after play down the stretch, whether it be acrobatic 4th down grabs or fourth quarter touchdown catches, that helped the Ducks win the 2009 Pac-10 Championship.

Scott Frost comes to the University of Oregon by way of Northern Iowa where he was the co-defensive coordinator for the Panthers in 2008 after serving as a linebackers coach in 2007. Coach Frost’s immediate coaching success is no mistake as he was tutored by some of the games most accomplished coaches including Bill Walsh, Bill Parcells, Mike Tomlin, and Tom Osborne.

As a quarterback, Scott Frost led Nebraska to a national championship in 1997 and a 42-17 Orange Bowl victory against Tennessee in 1998. Scott Frost graduated from Nebraska in 1997 with a BA in Finance after being a two-time first team Academic All-Conference selection. After graduating, Frost was drafted in the 3rd round of the 1998 NFL draft to the New York Jets where he was converted to safety, a position he excelled at in the NFL during his seven year career. Frost uses his knowledge of covering NFL receivers to teach his guys at Oregon how to excel against great defensive backs.
